No. 74 Spinet (a.k.a. Trapezoid) Cabinet for Singer 301
The spinet, or trapezoid, cabinet was made specifically for the Singer 301 sewing machine. Note that the accessory door swings to the right, rather than the more usual left...

...and that's because the left leg swings out to support the table top.

When opened, the leaf angles toward the sew-er, very convenient!

This cabinet is fitted with a cradle to hold the 301 securely in the cabinet when in use, and for quick and easy removal to take the machine to class.

The chair that came with this machine has a Singer label on the underside of the seat (seat raises for additional storage). Both cabinet and chair are made of walnut; Singer also made a blonde version of this cabinet. Chairs and cabinets were generally sold separately, could be mixed and matched.

The label on the chair has "recovered 8-24-76" pencilled in at top, indicating that the upholstery is not original. The inspection stamp is from the state of Louisianna.
